Masonic is at the intersection of: USFS road 169 (from Bodie) at USFS road 046. USFS road 046 intersects NV 338/328 (which runs between Wellington and Bridgeport). The turnoff East from NV 338/328 to USFS road 046 was labeled "Sweetwater Cyn Road" in Fall 2004. From Bridgeport, take CA 182 North to Nevada State Highway 338/328. State highways mentioned herein are paved. On USFS roads, a high clearance vehicle is recommended; 4WD was unnecessary in Fall 2004.

Tree bark nailed under wall tin as an attempt at insulation and draft-proofing. Judging from the machine-manufactured nails, probably after 1920.

When I shut off the engine of my truck to wait, the cattle skittered off. But when I restarted the engine, they returned to their trek. They evidently regard only running vehicles as "normal". I guess I should be grateful that they found my puny little V-6 Toyota worthy of their acceptance, because all the *real* men they know drive 9 mpg, 3+ ton monsters
